According to some mental health experts, using antidepressants may not only help treat and manage depression, but it can also be an effective pain treatment.

  • Back pain or aching muscles all over.

Usually, muscular or back pains can cause due to posture deformities or surgeries, or injuries, but they are also common symptoms of depression. And talking about backaches, it is common if you have psychological distress.

Psychiatrists believe that there is a link between emotional distress and pain, but a specific study is yet to be made. 

  • Headaches

A stressful working environment, problems in relationships, the stress in life can cause headaches, but depression can trigger headaches more than usual. 

You can not conclude that you have depression just because you are experiencing headaches. People with depression often experience some additional symptoms like sadness, irritation, and tiredness, along with headaches.

  • Eye problems or decreasing vision

Depression can also cause loss of vision and other problems in the eyes. Your vision can turn out to be blurry or hazy if you have depression. 

  • Stomach pain or uneasiness in the abdomen

Sometimes doctors refer to our digestive track as our second brain because there is a link between the gut and mental health. Stomachs are full of good bacteria and harmful bacteria, and their imbalance can cause anxiety and depression may arise.

Stomach cramps or pain in the stomach are common symptoms of depression because, according to researchers of Harvard Medical School, cramps, bloating, and nausea can cause poor mental health. 

  • Digestive issues or irregular bowel schedules

Digestive problems can be common if you have depression, and it can be embarrassing and uncomfortable. 

Genetics, exposure to childhood stress or trauma, and brain chemistry can be the reason for depression. People with depression often need professional help, like psychotherapy and medication, to treat and manage the situation.
