Tramadol is a type of synthetic codeine analog. Tramadol is categorized by central analgesic properties with effects that are similar to opioids like Codeine and Morphine acting on specific opioid receptors. Tramadol faintly hinders the reuptake of Serotonin and Norepinephrine. This is an addictive drug and is prescribed by doctors for severe pain as a narcotic analgesic.
This drug has not been examined in pediatrics. Therefore they must be refrained from consuming this drug, as its effect on their body is unknown.
Pediatrics must be administered with lesser analgesics that have comparatively lower risks associated with opioids.
